Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka-PPS offers a range of training and development workshops and opportunities for postgraduate students.
At PPS@UTeM, we try our best to give and helps your progress through your research studies by providing opportunities to enhance your existing skills and to acquire new skills and experience. This training may be provided through attending workshops / events offered @PPS and online modules.
Our workshops and events are planned to develop your research skills. These events are focusing on Five (5) major outcomes; a) Enhancing Academic Writing; b) Enhancing Publication Skills; c) Evaluating Research Outputs; d) Presentation & Communication Skills and e) Effective use of Technology. Examples of the Events are as follows:
No Training Workshop / Event 1. Academic and library skills. You could learn how to carry out literature searches, write your literature review, manage your research data and keep up-to-date with research in your subject area. Year 2 – 3 Minute(3M) Thesis Competition Year 3 – Preparing for Your Viva Academic Visit Visit to MIHAS event / Academic Visit to Local / International Institution Making the Most of the Relationship with Your Supervisor / Getting the most out of doctoral supervision Communicating Your Research to the Media / Public / Online: Conferences / Blogging / Tweeting Postgraduate Sport Activities Postgraduate Annual Dinner c) Effective use of Technology / Technology for research. You could yourself to manage your research and learn practical skills in using current research tools. Year 1 – Workshop of 3D drawing and illustration Year 2 – SPSS and statistical Tools Year 1 – Data Visualisation Year 2 – Nviv / R-analysis / etc We also offer research skills training through a series of online modules, so you can access what you need in a format that works for you, wherever you are.
